A private family property near Broome, Western Australia is looking for a reliable and practical caretaker couple for a long-term live-in position. This is not a working agricultural property. The role is focused on garden and grounds care, household support and general caretaking across the family’s off-grid property and a second home in town. The owners are looking for a couple who can commit for at least 12 months.

The work

Each person will work approximately 20 hours per week, giving a combined total of around 40 hours per week between the couple. Duties will include: ✅ General garden and grounds maintenance ✅ Property and block upkeep ✅ Household cleaning and general housework ✅ Helping maintain the off-grid property ✅ Assisting at the family’s second house in town ✅ Looking after the dogs when the owners are away ✅ General caretaking and keeping an eye on the property The owners occasionally travel for periods of up to two weeks, and during these times the caretakers will need to remain on the property and care for the dogs. Applicants may bring their own pet, although there is no fully secured yard around the caretaker’s cottage.

Accommodation

A private one-bedroom caretaker’s cottage is provided, separate from the main house. The cottage includes: ✅ Bedroom ✅ Bathroom ✅ Lounge and kitchen ✅ Air conditioning ✅ Wide veranda with ocean views ✅ Private setting ✅ Double carport high enough for a caravan and LandCruiser The property is approximately 20 minutes from Broome and close to the beach. Please note: the role is designed around living in the supplied cottage, so living permanently in your own caravan is not an option.

Remuneration

This is a paid employment position and can be structured as: ✅ One combined full-time salary arrangement for the couple or ✅ Two permanent part-time positions Other employment arrangements may be considered depending on the couple’s circumstances, however all employment and remuneration will be properly on the books.

Lifestyle and flexibility

Although the owners are looking for a minimum 12-month commitment, they are very flexible about the caretakers taking time away to travel around the region. Subject to coordinating around the owners’ own travel, the successful couple may be able to head off every few weeks and explore the Kimberley while maintaining Broome as their home base.
